A neat concealed solution with carefully designed thermal insulation

When planning outdoor blinds, there is more to consider than slats, colour and controls. Proper preparation of the space where the blinds will be concealed is just as important. Purenit boxes combine precise installation preparation with an effective insulation solution around the lintel.

What is a Purenit box?

A Purenit box is an insulation and installation component designed primarily for the concealed installation of outdoor blinds. It creates a precisely defined space above the window to house the raised blind and helps ensure continuity of thermal insulation around the lintel.

The area above a window is a critical construction detail. A poorly designed or improvised solution can complicate both the façade connection and the subsequent installation of shading. A purpose-designed box allows preparation for the blinds to be included in the building design and coordinated with the wall construction and insulation.

Why choose a Purenit box?

  • It helps reduce thermal bridges. The Purenit board structure can be supplemented with thermal insulation and helps maintain the insulating envelope above the window. This is particularly important for low-energy and passive houses.

  • It resists moisture and temperature changes. Purenit is a moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable material that withstands temperature fluctuations and common construction chemicals.

  • It simplifies work on site. The box provides a prepared space for the blinds during construction. Installation in a single step makes it easier to coordinate trades and reduces the need for later alterations.

  • It preserves the appearance of the façade. Once the work is complete, the upper box remains concealed beneath the façade. Only the slats and the chosen guide components are visible.

Three variants to suit the building structure

LOMAX offers three basic Purenit box designs. The appropriate type depends primarily on the wall build-up, insulation thickness and available installation space.

PB – standard U-shaped box

The standard design is suitable for buildings where the lintel insulation is already provided by the building structure. The box creates a precisely sized space for concealing the outdoor blind.

PBI – box with rear PIR insulation

The PBI variant includes an additional 20–60 mm layer of PIR insulation on the lintel side. It is suitable where particular attention needs to be paid to thermal insulation above the window and to minimising thermal bridges.

PBL – space-saving L-shaped box

The compact PBL design is particularly suitable for buildings with an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) where less space is available for fitting the box.

Insulated window reveals with a guide rail housing

Proper preparation for outdoor blinds does not end above the window. The sides of the window opening, or reveals, where the guide rails are installed, are equally important.

LOMAX therefore offers prefabricated insulated reveal elements with an integrated housing for a plastered-in guide rail. A single component combines reveal insulation with a precisely prepared space for the recessed blind guide.

Precise details and less work on site

The reveal system reduces the need to cut grooves and fit guide rail housings on site. A made-to-measure component helps maintain the required alignment and makes coordination between the insulation and installation contractors easier.

The precise position of the guide rails is also important for smooth operation of the blind. At the same time, a continuous layer of thermal insulation is maintained around the window without unnecessary interruptions.

Plan shading at the design stage

Purenit boxes are intended primarily for new builds and major renovations where the installation method can be incorporated into the building design. The earlier outdoor blinds are considered, the easier it is to coordinate window positions, the wall build-up, insulation thickness, electrical wiring and façade connections.

For a house already under construction, the available solution needs to be assessed individually. A LOMAX specialist will help select the right box and insulated reveal for the specific construction detail.

A concealed detail with lasting benefits

Once the house is finished, the Purenit box remains hidden beneath the façade. Its main benefits are therefore not immediately visible: precise preparation for the blinds, effective continuity of thermal insulation and less scope for installation errors.

Together with prefabricated insulated reveal elements, it creates a coordinated solution for modern new builds, low-energy and passive houses, and other buildings where a neat concealed installation of outdoor blinds is a priority.
